HOULETTE HAPPENINGS Greetings from Wenham, Massachusetts! We arrived here on Tuesday, and we are settling in fine. It was been a wild two weeks. God provided very abundantly for us. We finished packing and cleaning our town house 8/1, and moved into Matsukawa Place that same day and stayed through the weekend at our mission guest room. We had a wonderful farewell party at Denen Grace Chapel 8/3, and were ready to leave Monday afternoon after having lunch with a new mid-term missionary. Thirty minutes prior to our departure, our travel agent called to say that our flight had been delayed till the next morning. We were to go to the airport, check in, then get hotel vouchers and meal coupons for the night. So, we had another day of relaxation at a very nice hotel near Narita airport. We flew out at 8 am, an unheard of time for leaving for the U.S, but this got us into Chicago at 5 am so we got through immigration, rechecked our bags and got to the gate for our flight to Boston in less than one hour. Did I mention that due to the inconvenience, bag weight limits were increased 9 kilograms, eliminating an overweight issue we had with one of the bags. Wow, God made it very clear that he was leading us. We could not have made a more perfect list of needs than what He provided. We have plunged into things here. We are in a very ample two bedroom apartment, and John has started his assistant dorm director training. This will go on for the next two weeks, and students start arriving 8/24, I believe. Please pray for Jasmine. She has not yet found full time work. She is doing various part time work in the meantime. Also, pray for wisdom in buying a car. We are beginning to plan our church visits and our publicity information. Please note our new email and phone information. You can reach us at our current email addresses, but when we write to you, it will have the Gordon email address. Please contact us, and let us know how you are doing!

HOULETTEHAPPENINGS Greetings from Wenham, Massachusetts! We do appreciate very much your prayers for us. Things are going well here. ANSWERS TO PRAYER We purchased a car yesterday from some friends from Japan! They were in Boston for a year to do research at Harvard. We are making many friends with families, co-workers and students. Yutaka arrived Sunday, and is settling in. CAMPUS MINISTRY AT A GLANCE Becoming an assistant resident director has put John on a steep learning curve the last three weeks. We live in Gedney Hall, with 26 residents. It is an intentional community with a focus on missions. Eriko hosted many freshmen last night for dessert. We have our kick off event tomorrow night. John also oversees four other halls with various degrees of responsibility. Here in Gedney I have two great resident assistants, Bryden McGhee for the women and Jordan Montgomery for the men. I hope to mentor 3-5 students during the year. VISITING SUPPORTERS The fall schedule is coming together. 10/12 Bay Hills Community Church, Hayward, CA 10/26 Journey of Faith, Manhattan Beach, CA First Baptist Church, Hawthorne, CA 11/23 Pollock Pines Community Church, CA 12/28 First Baptist Church, Tracy, CA 1/4 First Baptist Church, Sun City, CA JAPAN MINISTRY Continue to pray for Naoko at Denen Grace, and her growth in Christ. Also, for the Kashiwagura family as they prepare for missionary service among Japanese in the San Diego area. They are beginning to raise support. Lakeside Church of Folsom, CA, is sending a team to Japan 10/17-24, and will visit four churches. John will facilitate this trip. John travels to Japan from 10/14-25 to lead the JBF Day of Business and the Lakeside missions trip. FAMILY CORNER Thank you for praying for Jasmine. She has had a number of job interviews, but no firm offers. Please continue to pray. Jeweliann, Yutaka and Christine all start classes tomorrow. This will be Jeweliann’s first time to study in America. We would appreciate your prayers for all of our students! Eriko and I so appreciate your prayers for us and our adjustment to America. In Christ, John and Eriko
