Seeing... and seeing

Image

Seeing but not seeing.

Every day, whether at work, on the freeway, at the supermarket, or on the news, literally thousands of people pass before our eyes.  The majority of these people do not have a clue as to the reality of Jesus Christ.  What will it take to have compassion, to not simply see a mindless horde but see searching individuals trying to make sense of this turbulant life?  Individuals who need to meet Jesus.

We see, but we do not see.

Last night 15 Christ-followers met together in our living room (work schedule & sickness hindered others from attending).  We looked at John the Baptist and his role as a witness to the true light, Jesus Christ.  Then we spoke of our role as witnesses.  We wanted to see.

I pulled out hundreds of note cards and we began to write names, hundreds of names... People we personally have contact with every week who have not yet met Jesus Christ... This is the network of only 15 people!

Sometimes we feel like the task is insurmountable.  It would take 30+ years for me to personally share Christ with all 135,000 people in the St. Jérôme region!  It's impossible.  But is it really?  We aren't alone.  We start here.  Together.  God has already begun to build a network for us, his witnesses.  Now, may God give us the compassion we need every day to take every opportunity captive as we serve and express the love of Christ to this massive network.

That we may see... and see.
