Marriage and Family Counselor at Faith Academy

The purpose of the Faith Academy Marriage & Family Counselor is to assist the students, faculty, staff, administration, and their respective families in reaching their emotional, mental, spiritual, and social potentials and helping people to effectively deal with issues and problems that arise in these areas.

REQUIREMENTS:
Faith Academy Marriage & Family Counselor should have at least a Master’s degree (or its equivalent) in a counseling or related field or be in the process of obtaining their Master’s degree in counseling. Minimum commitment of 2 years.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Informational: • Providing input/feedback/suggestions to principals, guidance counselors, teachers, and boarding home parents in the handling of students with certain problems/issues. • Providing information regarding child development issues, child protection issues, as well as good parenting practices. • Providing information regarding children with special needs and supporting parents whose children are struggling in these areas. Direct Contact: • Counseling with individuals, couples, families, and groups who are experiencing difficulties with various emotional, mental, spiritual, and social issues. • Consulting with faculty, staff, and administration regarding concerns they have about students and/or their own personal adjustments to living in the Faith Academy community. Providing input/feedback/suggestions, as appropriate, regarding issues of management, discipline, or guidance of students. NOTE: Faith Academy Marriage & Family Counselors have NO administrative authority. While they will make every effort to provide insight and helpful input, feedback, and suggestions regarding the situations they have been asked to consult on, the final decisions made regarding various individuals or issues need to be made by the administrator(s) who requested the consultation. • Counseling with faculty, staff, and administration and their families who are experiencing difficulties and request help. • Providing workshops, seminars, or presentations on various topics as requested or needed. • Providing required counseling for students or staff members at the request of their respective principal, FA administrator, or mission administrator. • Providing consultation to FA & mission administrators regarding staff and personnel issues that may arise.
LIVING ENVIRONMENT:
Most of the staff rent condominium apartments or single family homes close to Faith Academy. These come both furnished and unfurnished. Faith Academy does manage the lease of some apartments close to the campus; they are available on a first come/first serve basis. The HR office also keeps an ongoing list of available housing. Contact Annette Isaac if you would like to see the list. Some staff will be looking for people to housesit for them while they are on home assignment (furlough) for six months to one year. This allows newcomers to get an idea of what things are like and where they may want to live in the future. The HR office will also be able to give you information about this.
