Come work with one of our several Japanese churches and/or ministries who are eager to partner together with you! Of the few felt needs in Japan, the largest is by far the desire to practice speaking with and learning from a native English speaker. Our churches love the opportunity to invite new people from the community through the chance to improve their English. TEFL/TESOL Internship
REQUIREMENTS:
College student or above. Non-college students are considered if above 20 and have life experience in the workplace. Able to live in a rural area away from the luxuries of a large city. Willing to live alone at/near the church or in a homestay situation with Japanese people. Willing to dive into an environment with limited interaction with other Westerners and be eager to press into relationships with the Japanese people you're serving. Able to be comfortable leading interactions with students in a classroom setting, both school-aged and adults. Willing to be flexible and jump into a variety of service opportunities beyond English teaching as the church asks. Comfortable riding a bike to get around. Timeframe: 1-6 months. Opportunities to serve 1-2 years are also a possibility upon consultation with the field.

You will be working together with one of our churches that will help by empowering and enabling you to sustain and oftentimes create English-focused programs to attract new people from the community. Throughout the week you will be helping with various English teaching opportunities. Whether it is a casual Mom & Tots English time after church or an after-school formal English teaching class, you will be expected to lead with energy and love to foster a comfortable environment for the students, building up the witness of the church in its community. You will be responsible to keep your schedule as you would any other job, being careful to prioritize your ministry in order to show up on time and be prepared.
