4000-004-Mabiala, Sublime and Rachel

Teaching Missiology and Business for Gospel movements within and from Cote d’Ivoire!

The Mabialas joined WorldVenture on August 15, 2017 with a missionary background and cross-cultural teaching experience. Sublime was born and grew up in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) but moved to California many years ago. He was given the name of his grandfather, a local evangelist who helped western missionaries to plant churches in the southwestern DRC during Belgian colonization. Carrying this legacy, Sublime has previously served as a missionary in West Africa, Arab World and in America with three US-based mission agencies. He pursues a PhD and continues to teach as a visiting short-term lecturer at seminaries and universities in Africa.

Rachel is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) who has a strong passion of integrating Business and Missions. Born in Detroit, Michigan from an African American family, Rachel’s grandmother prophesied that she would become a missionary when she was a teenager. While assuming her professional career at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Rachel spent her summers doing short-term missions in Asia and Africa. Rachel has also taught Accounting at Azusa Pacific University, UC Irvine, Pepperdine and University of Maryland.

Sublime and Rachel met at Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, California where both were studying Missiology and International Development. Their interest in teaching ministry and holistic discipleship brought them together. They knew that after marriage they would end somewhere on the mission field. The Mabiala’s feel called by God to participate in addressing the challenge of education in Africa as echoed in Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed by lack of knowledge.
