Financial / Administrative Assistant for Tyndale Theological Seminary

This position is responsible for the execution of administrative functions, financial, and insurance-oriented duties at Tyndale Theological Seminary.

REQUIREMENTS:
● Good communication and interpersonal skills ● Technically proficient including training on Quick Books software and Excel (Both of these can be taught to a qualified candidate.) ● Excellent filing skills ● Flexible ● English language required, Dutch language desired ● Agreement with Tyndale’s Statement of Faith and a commitment to the local church and a lifestyle of faith. Desired Qualifications: ● Financial background and experience ● Exercises discretion about Tyndale’s finances ● MBO with minimum 2 years in financial field experience, HBO preferred; or BS in accounting Raise your own funding through Partner Development. Training provided. Online interview with Tyndale Staff is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary Financial Responsibilities: ● Handling the day-to-day financial operations, payments, and petty cash ● Reviewing payments and maintaining all invoices ● Entering all data into Quickbooks ● Reviewing with the Government Liaison student health insurance, making all payments for other insurances and researching other insurance options for students depending on the duration of study and/or part-time work ● Reviewing and up-keeping all student accounts ● Ensuring that adequate financial records are maintained and providing required data to staff and external financial, accounting and salary administrators such as outside payroll firm(s) and accountants for annual financial reporting ● Making specific purchases at the direction of supervisor consistent with budget allocations ● Providing a monthly cash-on-hand statement to the Director of Finance ● Notifying the Director of Finance of any significant change in cash-on-hand ● Updating a monthly statement of faculty and staff accounts Primary Administrative Responsibilities: • Answering the telephone and provide customer service in greeting visitors • Filling administration needs involving computer processing, including Word, Excel, Google docs, etc. • Receiving and distributing Tyndale’s mail to faculty, staff, and students’ mailboxes • Assisting with preparing mailings as needed • Assisting the Academic Dean with course evaluations, etc. • Assisting the Vice President of Academic Affairs with specified tasks
LIVING ENVIRONMENT:
The person would be responsible for finding suitable housing for a family. Most often this is a row house or an apartment. Housing in the immediate area is scarce, but sometimes possible. If the person is single, there might be a possibility of living in the dormitory that houses students. The school is in a small Dutch village close to Schiphol airport. Accommodations are western.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Tyndale Theological Seminary is a multicultural and international school that equips people from all over the world to serve the Lord in whatever calling He has given to them. It is a close knit community where one can find a sense of belonging. The person would work in an office setting in an English-speaking environment. Most of the faculty and staff are Americans, but we also have Dutch, Ghanaian, Hungarian, and German. There are chapel services twice weekly and prayer times that the person would be involved in.
