The RAPHA Health Initiative is a Christian medical ministry working to strengthen healthcare access and medical training in northern Mozambique, one of the most underserved regions in sub-Saharan Africa.
The vision is to help establish the Church of Jesus Christ through compassionate medical care, discipleship, and long-term investment in Mozambican healthcare leaders. Northern Mozambique faces severe shortages of trained healthcare professionals and limited access to surgical, maternal, pediatric, and emergency care. RAPHA seeks to address these gaps by partnering with Mozambican leaders, churches, and international Christian medical institutions to train and mentor local clinicians who will serve their own communities. The ministry combines faith and works by caring for physical needs while also sharing the hope and story of Jesus Christ through relationships, prayer, discipleship, and Christ-centered service. The goal is not only to provide healthcare, but also to strengthen local Christian witness and help cultivate a sustainable movement of mission medicine rooted in the local church. The initiative is beginning through outpatient clinical development, medical officer training, and strategic partnerships with established Christian hospitals in Africa. Long-term goals include the development of a surgical training hospital, community outreach clinics, and a network capable of training future generations of Mozambican Christian healthcare leaders.
At its core, RAPHA exists to demonstrate the love of Christ through excellent medicine, humble service, and the integration of spiritual and physical healing.
