    Missions Conference for American Chinese

Please pray for a Chinese "Urbana" being held in Philadelphia (by Ambassadors for Christ) the week after Christmas to attract North American Chinese to serve in missions. We will be attending with our family to introduce young people to WorldVenture's mission opportunities.

    Celebrating Christmas

We held the first of our planned Christmas activities with The Grace Place, our church plant. It was a Christian concert from a group of four blind men. We held it in the theater that's a part of the community building next door. We weren't sure whether there would be 10 people or 100 people. We had done all the advertizing, inviting and praying that we could. The theater holds 60 people and basically all the seats were full (at one point or another). I think about half the people were kids. Almost all our regular contacts were there (folks in the English classes, mom's and men's and single's groups, small group, kids activities, etc). And there were several people I didn't know or ones we've seen only at one or two activities. It was really encouraging to see so many people there. They finished with Amazing Grace, focusing on the phrase "I once was blind, but now I see." It was a great introduction to our Christmas activities.

    Praise for New Believers

Praise God for the good field conference. We were able to discuss all that we needed to discuss and make the difficult decisions. The highlight was having the pastor and his wife from my church in the States with us. Praise God for the great times of worship and teaching that were part of conference. After the conference I went to Teresina with my pastor and his wife to participate in the anniversary of a church. Praise God that there was one decision that weekend. Praise God that the following weekend there were four more decisions made by people who had attended the special services at the anniversary of the church.

Sharing the Gospel During the Christmas Season

We baptized five Chinese students. They all are in discipleship small groups. Pray Colossians 2:6, 7 for them. Also pray for another student we about five years ago. Linda is meeting with her to share the gospel with her yet again. The last time--about a month ago--this young woman said she was close but not yet ready. She is the only unbeliever we have in a discipleship small group, she has one of our girls as a roommate, comes to church faithfully and meets occasionally with Linda. It is time! Pray for her that she would come to know her Savior during this Christmas season.

    Providing Hope to Children

Our Feeding Centre in Gulu has been operating for several months now. Each weekday morning, the Children Of Hope child-headed households in Koro Abili, a camp for internally displaced persons, come for breakfast. Lunch is served at school, and then the children return for dinner. We have about 20 families we’re serving, including two just recently enrolled. One 16-year-old girl has four younger siblings, the youngest only 2. Their mother died of AIDS in July and their father died sometime back. This girl never progressed beyond 3rd grade since she had to help so much at home, but we will be able to start her in a vocational school program when the next school year begins. For kids like these, being part of COH makes an incredible difference in their lives. On the weekends, when there is no school, each of these families cooks and eats at home with the food provided by the project. Pray for the children's development and for the project as it expands into the community.

    LifeBridge International Church

We are planting a new church in Vienna called "LifeBridge." It is an international church that will minister to the international community in Vienna...with a special focus on Arab Speakers. Our goal will be a multi-lingual, multi-cultural church, offering translation and worship in Arabic, German and English. We felt all three of these languages would be important - many of the Arab speakers have children who speak better German than Arabic and there are other nations that we hope to reach who may come from a Middle Eastern culture but not speak Arabic (that is why we are including English). Please pray that we can find a place to meet. It is important within the Arab community that we have a meeting place.

    youth4youth Outreach

We prayed for the youth4youth outreach among skaters. Everything went smoothly and there were estimates of 400, including workers, skaters and spectators in attendance at some of the events. Fifty young people showed up at the follow-up evangelistic meeting in the Spittal church; six are attending a Bible study for skaters, and 10 are showing a lot of interest in Christianity. Several decisions were made for Christ. Pray for the follow-up of relationships made during youth4youth.

    Outreach to Students

At the University in Hong Kong where the Johnsons head up the outreach to international students, there are 530 international students from a neighboring country plus 150 others from other countries. During orientation week there were 140 new students. The Johnsons invited them to a welcome party and 130 of them showed up. Of those 130 students, 20 attended church the next Sunday. Rich and Sally have started conversational English classes, seekers classes, and discipleship classes. Pray for these students to become followers of Jesus.

    180 Degrees

Praise that God has shown favor on the youth team Ramona directs, 180 Degrees. Fifteen decisions for the Lord were made on a recent ministry trip to a remote mountain area.

    Evangelistic Outreach

Pray for members of the Klagenfurt church and a sister church who are planning an outreach in June 2008 where three of the European Soccer Championship games will be played. This will be a great opportunity as there will be many visitors to Klagenfurt.

    Raising Support

Praise God for all He is showing us during our support discovery. He is increasing our faith and reliance on Him. Praise God for the individuals and churches who support us. We are so blessed to have such partnerships and encouragement. Please pray for the remaining 45 percent of support we still need to raise before we can leave for the field and begin our ministry there.

    Women's Ministry

Pray for several women in Peggy's Tuesday morning class. One has been asking questions about God and responding with enthusiasm to discussions about the difference a relationship with Jesus makes in our lives. Several other women seem to be connecting more with the Bible lessons in the second hour of class. Two of the women are involved in the "Rainbow Mothers" program in their local school. This program takes advantage of a government decision that allows churches (and other religious groups as well) to go into the school to teach moral character to the students. These women have connected with the church that is working in the school where their children attend. Since they have not yet made a decision to follow Christ, they cannot teach the lessons, but they are helping, and are having more contact with other Christians as well. Please continue to pray for these women, that they all might come to know Jesus.

    Preparing for Ministry in Ireland

Pray for us as we leave our full-time church ministry in the States and being full-time support discovery for our new ministry in Ireland. Pray as the Lord directs our path to both prayer and support partners.

We are beginning our initial preparation for next year's "40 Days of Purpose" campaign. Pray that many will join us for this event.

    Establishing the Church

In the central region of the Philippines, we have 16 churches, with seven more churches to be added into membership. Our goal is to have 70 churches by year 2015. Pray for wisdom as we move forward in outreach activities.
