Linguist / Bible Translator

Partner with a national team to do pioneer church planting, language analysis and Bible translation in a Senufo language. Their are 18 distinct languages within this group of between 1.5 and 2.7 million people. Currently two translations are being worked on by WorldVenture missionaries. Another two translations are currently awaiting printing of the entire Bible. “Senufo Initiative” is an exciting SIL, WorldVenture and national churches partnership to reach the remaining unreached Senufo groups.

REQUIREMENTS:
Team-player with pioneer spirit. Specialization in linguistics and/or Bible translation. Minimally, a bachelor's degree, with SIL-equivalent preliminary training for Bible translation (linguistics, exegesis and translation principles, intro to anthropology and literacy). One or more biblical languages. Seminary or grad-level Bible training desirable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in a team, integrating national missionaries, to enter an unreached Senufo language group. Develop, with a team, full-scoped church planting strategy based on research and team vision, including Bible translation. Do linguistic and anthropological analyis preliminary to translation, training the team as necessary, and lead translation implementation.
