LIVING ENVIRONMENT:
In recent history, Beirut was known to be a considerably Western city in the Middle East, however Lebanon is currently in the midst of one of the worst economic crises in the history of the world. Electricity and gas are not always available, and the political situation is precarious and could explode at any moment. Instability is to be expected. Most people in the city of Beirut have experienced multiple traumas over the past few years. As such, the needs are great and ministry opportunities are endless. The worker would be living in Beirut, ideally with other foreign believers. He or she will be encouraged to become part of a local church, and will participate in WV Lebanon's team meetings and new worker mentorship program.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The Safe Haven Community Center is located in a low income, urban neighborhood on the outskirts of Beirut. The children who attend our programs are a mix of Lebanese and Syrian refugee children from various religious backgrounds. The team consists of Lebanese, Syrian and American staff and volunteers.
