Our ministry vision is for holistic discipleship of ministry leaders- developing leaders in head (theological education), heart (spiritual formation) and hands (ministry training) to disciple others in unreached parts of Asia.
Anna and I both attended Biola University which played a significant role in our growth in Christ. In our college years we were blessed with many opportunities to deepen in our grasp of God’s Word as well as be discipled by mentors who opened up their lives to us.
Over our time in college and afterwards, God grew in us a vision to train and equip people from unreached areas to take the Gospel to their home countries and plant churches, specifically in places where the Gospel has not yet been heard. We realized that our experiences of receiving formal Bible training and intentional discipleship were blessings that we wanted to pass on to others. Our passion is not only to teach God’s Word, but also disciple others so that they can effectively teach as well as shepherd the people in their care. In order to be better equipped for ministry, Adam completed an M.Div. with an emphasis in Pastoral Care and Counseling, a ThM in Old Testament, and a PhD in New Testament. During Adam’s doctoral studies, Anna began an MA in Counseling at Southern Seminary to be better equipped to disciple women.
While we considered where we might serve, we were led to think about Asia more seriously because the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Asia is home to 4.4 billion people, which is over 60% of the world’s population. Of those 4.4 billion, 2.7 billion people in Asia have never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ – they may never read the Bible, walk by a church or even know a Christian. Our desire is to train up nationals to take the gospel to parts of the world where it has not been heard.
In order to equip nationals to reach the unreached in Asia, we teach at the International Graduate School of Leadership (IGSL) in Manila, Philippines. IGSL has approximately 250 students from 20 countries (India, Vietnam, Pakistan, Mongolia, China, Myanmar, Bangladesh, to name just a few) where students can earn a Master of Divinity or Master of Arts degree. These students are equipped to plant churches and lead ministries to take the gospel to some of the 2.7 billion people in Asia who have never heard of Jesus Christ before. IGSL has 1,265 graduates serving in 38 countries. We love IGSL’s holistic vision to develop ministry leaders by building up their head, heart, and hands. Each faculty member teaches (head), mentors a small group (heart), and coaches students in practical ministry skills (hands) to enable students to more effectively minister among the lost in Asia.
Adam teaches both Old and New Testament courses to train students how to study the Bible and apply it to their lives. He mentors a small group of students with the goal of helping the truths of Scripture penetrate their hearts and transform them more into Christ’s image. He also assists those students in developing ministry skills so they can take the knowledge they have learned and effectively serve as ministers of the Gospel to a lost and hurting world.
Anna currently teaches Bible in the Partners in Ministry Program (PIM). Partners in Ministry is a two-year certificate program in which the student wives take Bible courses and learn leadership and ministry skills, while receiving faculty mentoring and discipleship. IGSL emphasizes ministry together as a family, so both men and women are equipped for ministry together. In addition to teaching, Anna also disciples a small group of student wives.
In addition to their ministry at IGSL, Adam and Anna have 2 sons Luke and Caleb who enjoy reading, playing outside, and experiencing new adventures in the Philippines.
