4000-384-Lawson, Lori

Teaching at Morrison Christian Academy in Taiwan, serving sudents and their parents, both Christian and non-Christian; also as her language skills improve, Lori hopes to develop meaningful relationships with people in her neighborhood.

Pray that “the light of the glorious gospel of Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:4) would shine freely on the people of Taiwan. Pray also that God would direct Lori through the process of support discovery.

About me:
Following a lifelong interest in missionary children’s education and six years of teaching at Morrison Christian Academy in Taiwan, Lori Lawson seeks to serve God as a career missionary teacher. Schools such as Morrison provide an educational option for missionary parents seeking to meet the educational needs of their children. This vital ministry allows parents to remain on the field, fully engaged in ministries such as evangelism, church planting, leadership training, medical work and translation.

Lori grew up in a Christian family and trusted Christ as her personal Savior during family devotions at age 4. Her family regularly attended a church in Auburn, Washington, where, even when quite young, Lori was often exposed to the work of missionaries. As she heard what God was doing around the world, she began asking the Lord how he wanted her to be involved. During a church missions conference while she was in high school, Lori made a commitment to the Lord to do whatever he wanted, wherever that might be.

A graduate of Prairie Bible College and Seattle Pacific University, Lori was teaching English and working with international students at Prairie Bible College in Alberta, Canada, when God began to remind her of that decision she had made so many years before to serve him anywhere. She spent a summer in China teaching English and hoped that the Lord would use that experience to answer the question that continued to nag at her: “Does God want me to serve him overseas?” While the summer ended without an answer, the question didn’t go away. Lori continued to look for opportunities and in 1999 went to Taiwan to teach at Morrison Christian Academy.

During her years at Morrison, Lori has sensed God prompting a further commitment: to fully identify with God’s kingdom work in Asia by serving as a career missionary. She anticipates returning to Taiwan to continue teaching at Morrison Christian Academy.
