4000-396-Love, David and Catherine

We are passionate about mobilizing people for the harvest through short-term trips, internships, coaching and mentoring.

I (Catherine) grew up in Cottage Grove, Oregon, where my father pastored a small church. I came to believe in Christ at age 4. My interest in people of other cultures was sparked both by the missionaries who passed through my church, and by my paternal grandparents, God-fearing immigrants from Armenia.

Born the last of five sons, my (David) faith took root while attending church with my family during my formative years. But when I was 12, my father, a good natured and hard-working man, died from a heart attack. I feel my father’s character had a significant impact on the kind of man I have become.

We met as college underclassmen, then transferred to Warner Pacific College in Portland to complete our bachelor’s degrees. During this time, I (David) began serving as the director of student ministries at Faith Community Fellowship in Oregon City, a bi-vocational position I have filled for 12 years. Catherine has also served at Faith Community in youth and music ministry and women’s Bible studies. After beginning ministry together, we were married in 1988.

Interestingly, I (David) had sensed that we would find God’s will for our lives at Warner Pacific. Looking back, it appears that the short-term mission trips we took in college, I (David) to Germany and Catherine to Italy, did indeed shape our future, for the trips opened our eyes to the spiritual needs of Europe.
