Psalm 57:9-10
I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to you among the nations.
For your steadfast love is great to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the clouds.
As I look across my life, I am overwhelmed with gratitude at the countless displays of God’s steadfast love and faithfulness towards me. In light of God’s transformative grace as revealed on the cross of Christ, I can’t help but proclaim His praises among the nations!
Admittedly, the nations weren’t always on the forefront of my mind as a young follower of Jesus. It wasn’t until I was confronted by the urgency of the Great Commission as a sophomore in college that I began to seriously ask if the Lord was calling me to “go.”
While the pandemic paused early aspirations of serving among an unreached people group, it also allowed me to land in a healthy church (Redeemer Church NC) and study at a missions-minded seminary (Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary) following graduation from Bible college (Liberty University).
I was about halfway through seminary when I began to sense the Lord reawakening a strong desire to “go” to the nations. This growing burden was accompanied by a sudden interest in Japanese culture. After learning the shocking reality that Japan is home to the second largest unreached people group in the world, I began to seriously pray about pursuing service in Japan.
As my interest in Japan grew, the Lord providentially connected me to several others who had similar hearts for the Japanese people. As I began to see the ways that God had primed my heart for ministry in Japan, it became evident that this was something I was supposed to pursue.
I am beyond excited to be serving on a WorldVenture church planting team and can’t wait to see God at work in the Japanese church. While I am admittedly intimidated by language school, I know that the Lord will provide for me in miraculous ways as I grow in both cultural and linguistic fluency.
Please pray for me as I continue through pre-field training and partner development. I want to steward this time well so that I may later leverage my two-year assignment in Japan for the glory of God. Additionally, please pray that the hearts of the Japanese people are softened to receive the Good News of Christ Jesus!
