It has been a great privilege to serve with WorldVenture along with my wife Melody. We joined WorldVenture in 1989 and served as missionaries through the 90s in São Paulo, Brazil. My primary work there was teaching and writing. We also worked in Christian publishing at Edições Vida Nova and began a work with street kids. When it was time to return on furlough in 1999, I felt constrained to begin a program that would focus on God’s poorest children. This is how our role in WorldVenture Relief Ministries began.
Taking Christ to the poor is our calling. Our projects are run by native leaders who desire to reach their people not only with the Word of God, but also through acts of compassion. It is difficult to preach the gospel when stomachs are hungry, when illness is all consuming, when studying the Bible is not possible because of illiteracy.
Because of these obstacles our work includes rice and food pantry distribution to widows and their families, medical and nutrition care, drilling water wells for the untouchable caste, educating children through sponsorships and building church structures.
We are thankful to you, our donors, not just for our personal financial needs, but for your support of our projects as well. You are making a difference in the lives of many. Through you, we are able to take Christ to the poor.
