Counselor with At-Risk Children and Youth

Provide counseling to at-risk children and youth, ministering to the whole person (spiritual, emotional, physical, social, and mental) in Metro Cebu, Philippines.

Note: This opportunity is available beginning in 2023.

REQUIREMENTS:
A love for and a heart of compassion for the poor and disenfranchised children and youth. A degree in counseling would be helpful, but not required. A willingness and ability to work on a team of Americans and Filipinos. A desire and ability for relational evangelism, including leading Bible Studies. A basic understanding of Roman Catholicism is helpful
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Minister to the poor and disenfranchised: especially the street children, youth, and their families. Counseling opportunities abound in the following areas: family/domestic issues, abuse, trauma, drug addiction, trafficking aftercare, parenting issues, and personal/psychological needs. Developing strategies for holistic healing, including Discovery Bible Studies (DBS), feeding program, educational/vocational training, and drug rehabilitation. Building bridges with the families in order to bring reconciliation of relationships and influence in the community.
LIVING ENVIRONMENT:
A large metropolitan city in a developing country. Hot and humid Filipinos are very friendly, hospitable, fun-loving, and receptive to the Gospel
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Ministering on a close-knit team of Americans and Filipinos. Language is strongly recommended, although English is widely understood and spoken.
