Missionary Scholar / Professor

The Evangelische Theologische Faculteit in Leuven is a unique institution of higher learning. ETF Leuven is one of the few evangelical and interdenominational institutions offering accredited university-level theological education in Europe, with an impact far beyond national borders. ETF Leuven is a flexible, small-scale and ambitious academic institution.

As a missionary scholar at ETF Leuven, you would join an academic staff with a strong, personal and long-term commitment to Christian ministry and academic excellence. While in that respect you would be no different from the rest of our colleagues, your unique contribution would be in strengthening our core identity as being international, interdenominational and missional. We have potential openings in all departments (OT, NT, Systematics, Historical Theology). ETF is located in the Dutch (Flemish) speaking part of Belgium, but instruction could take place in English.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Holder of a PhD in Theology or Religious Studies on the basis of a published or publishable dissertation and awarded by a highly regarded academic institution - Good research credentials, visible in a steady flow of publications in respected academic journals and volumes – or (for the senior researcher) the potential and desire to become a publishing academic author - Strong teaching skills and (for the missionary professor) experience in teaching at higher education institutions - Willingness and ability to serve in administrative and supportive roles, including taking responsibility for ensuring the funds for your own salary through your chosen missions agency. - Cross-cultural communication skills and the willingness to constructively cooperate with people from other nations, cultures, and backgrounds - Willingness to move to Belgium and to learn Dutch at at least an intermediate level within five years after arrival - Ability to sign wholeheartedly the ETF Leuven Statement of Faith and to constructively cooperate on this basis with colleagues and students who may hold different theological positions - Loyal member of a Christian congregation
RESPONSIBILITIES:

LIVING ENVIRONMENT:
Located in one of the oldest university cities in Europe, close to the heart of EU and NATO (Brussels), in an international hub that can be easily reached from anywhere in the world.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The ETF Leuven campus is a learning, working and living community where academic activities and student life meet. Here is where our residential students live, teaching takes place, the library is located and our staff works. Currently, 95 people live at our campus in the 60 residences, which include student rooms, studios and apartments. ETF Leuven staff and students have full access to the KU Leuven library of theology, one of the largest in the world. In its very DNA, ETF Leuven is international, interdenominational and missional. These characteristics are very visible in our academic staff.
