Nurse (RN)

Use your nursing skills to contribute to the quality medical and spiritual care to patients at Baptist Hospital. Be involved in diagnosing and counseling HIV/AIDS patients. Length of service is 1 year to a lifetime.

REQUIREMENTS:
RN with one year staff nursing preferred. Helpful areas of training/experience include surgery, intensive care, midwify, teaching, supervision. Long-term nurses study tropical medicine. Cooperative, dependable, industrious, adaptable, with stamina, having solid prayer support base, flexible person to work long hours. Willing to work in less than ideal conditions and with less than up-to-date equipment. Some French would be helpful.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
On short stays you will likely spend some time on the wards and be assigned to some surgery. Nurses also consult and treat out-patients, supervise the care of hospitalized patients, hlep with evening/night call, do newborn care and recussitation as well as administration and other duties as they arise. Participate in evangelism and discipleship ministry of the hospital; mentor professionalism and quality nursing care.

LIVING ENVIRONMENT:
Team members are housed on the large hospital compound. Houses are cement block and minimally furnished but with electricity (220) and running water/plumbing. Limited internet and phone service available.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Help with an active out-patient clinic which sees 100-200 patients/day along with a 61-bed inpatient service and 4-block surgical unit.
