Leading international workers toward strategic gospel engagement across Africa and developing the leadership skills of the international workers we serve.
We serve as Global Director (GD) for Africa. Our responsibility is in three areas: strategic planning, leadership development and organizational leadership. As GD, some of what we are responsible for: providing pastoral care, leadership and supervision for international workers in Africa; assuring that WorldVenture personnel in Africa are being cared for and challenged toward ongoing personal and professional development; addressing personnel and field crises in Africa; and calling and leading international workers in Africa to spiritual, relational, and organizational health. We also have some responsibility for recruiting needed workers and identifying new fields of service.
Currently, we serve approximately 67 Global workers (some singles, some couples with children) in 12 different countries (One country that we cannot name; Chad, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Senegal, and Uganda); visiting each of the countries at least once per year. In addition to that we have Global Partners from nations that we serve that partner with us, lead us well and give themselves away. We care for, guide and keep them safe. It is our sincere desire to see global workers across Africa spiritually empowered, unleashed to soar in their respective ministries and to facilitate the spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ across the continent of Africa.
We are native to Texas and began traveling to Ghana for short-term ministry in 1999 while Lloyd was a student at Dallas Theological Seminary. On December 31, 2004, we moved with our two sons to Ghana, West Africa. After serving for 10 years in Ghana in the areas of leadership development and community economic development, we accepted the GD role for Africa. We brought to us in this role 10 years of experience in Ghana; 10 years of professional experience in human resource management, political strategy and community economic development; and 6 years of church ministry experience in leadership, women’s ministry and worship ministry.
Lloyd holds a B.S. in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University and a Th.M. in Educational Leadership from Dallas Theological Seminary, where he served as a Leadership Fellow in the Center for Christian Leadership and a Doctorate in Intercultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary. Lloyd worked as a political strategist in Georgia and Texas and as an urban planner before becoming a missionary.
Jan holds B.A. degrees in Organizational Management and Business Leadership from Ashford University and a Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Leadership from Grand Canyon University. She served as a Practice Associate for Arthur Andersen LLP and as Corporate Human Resource Manager for Rosewood Hotels and Resorts before becoming a missionary.
Lloyd and Jan have three married adult children and 6 grandchildren. Their daughter, Jamie (Dedrick & 4 children), is a Social Worker for the city of Houston TX; their son, Joseph (Courtney & one son) is on staff as Ministry Coordinator at Crossover Bible Fellowship, Houston TX; and their son Jeremy (Nina & one son), works in Audio Engineering Technology around the globe.
Their biggest challenge is recruiting workers to go into difficult areas where political and religious unrest are active.
They are currently seeking the Lord for the mobilization of new units comprising 5 teams to 5 UPGs across Africa. Praying expectantly for the Lord to open doors of partnership for workers in Africa to finance the vision that God has given to each one of them!
