“The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. And for those who lived in the land where death casts its shadow, a light has shined.” Matthew 4:16 (NLT).

At the time of Jesus’ birth and throughout His ministry, Rome held Jesus’ homeland – the land of Israel – in the shadow of death. Every teaching our Lord gave, every act of compassion He modeled, and every miracle He performed – all happened under the tyranny of Rome.

But even the most powerful empire the world had ever known could not stop the Kingdom from coming.

Three years ago, on February 24, 2022, Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine. It was a dark day, and the darkness of war has cast death’s shadow in the region ever since. But the light of Jesus still shines brightly through our ministry partners, their local churches, and our WorldVenture colleagues serving with them.

And because of support from partners just like you, that light shines all the brighter.

Thank you.

As you join us in prayer, I hope you’ll take a few minutes to click here and watch a few stories about what God has done and continues to do among the people of Ukraine. The light keeps shining.
