There is a lot of abuse, especially of women and children, in all of Latin America. In Costa Rica they are becoming more aware of the problem and the need to address it. Karen Shogren is offering classes on the Church Confronting Sexual Violence and there is need for counseling there as well.

Counselor at Restoration Ministries Day Center

Restoration Ministries (RM) is an outreach ministry to the poor and downcast in Sao Paulo, Brazil. RM works in 5 slums and they offer many services at the Day Center. For many of the children, the reality of their lives center on drugs, domestic violence, prostitution and a poverty so severe that there is often no food to eat. The mission of RM is to transform underprivileged children and their communities through the good news of Jesus Christ, equipping them to serve. Counseling is always a need there.

Professor for Bible College, Seminary

ESEPA is an interdenominational evangelical Bible college and seminary, a partner school of Overseas Council International and affiliated with AETAL. ESEPA was founded in 1983 in response to the need for training evangelical Protestant ministers in Costa Rica; today its training extends to Christian educators, teachers and transcultural workers. The faculty consists of missionaries and of Latin Americans, many of whom are ESEPA’s own graduates. Restoration Ministries exists to transform underprivileged children and their communities through the good news of Jesus Christ, equipping them to serve. We have a great need for native English speakers to teach and practice English with students in our English School. We offer free classes to kids in the slums and additionally have started a Business-as-Mission offering fee-based English classes to adults who can afford them. Our curriculum is Bible-based, engaging in transformational teaching and discipleship while helping students move towards personal and professional growth.
